Hi All,

Please provide your views on a specific query regarding the VISA duration for the following program:
Jan 2014 Intake:

http://www.centennialcollege.ca/Programs/ProgramOverview.aspx?Program=2845&Calendar=2012-2013

The course details here say its a 1 year, 2 Semester course. Even the LOA from the college says:
Duration of Course - 1 Year (2 Semesters)

But the Date of Completion for the course is August 2014. So the duration of the course precisely here is 8 months, and not one year. Also, as per the standard "4 months per semester" regime in Canada, this seems like a 8 month course.

Now there is a lot of confusion regarding this within different agencies and different consultants, that whether the student VISA, and the PGWP later on will be issued for a year, or only 8 months..?

Senior members. Plz Help.
Other alumni of this course, you wud know best.. Please help...!!!

Thanks..!!

same college same situation ... I got an offer letter for HRM. Also, my plan is to do another course called Payroll Management upon the completion of this course. Any views on study permit extension too... please

That u can do one the course is nearing completion.. Just get you LOA and all other docs like u did the first time n apply..

U can apply online as well.. The only diff wud b now u will apply from within canada..

U got any fix on this duration thing??

Sweetalker - One last question,

Are there any chances of rejection in extension just like how it happens if you apply for the first time.

I just looked up the link you provided and what I make of it is that in most colleges two semesters make up one academic year. So that maybe the reason it has been mentioned that it is one year course. Similarly, two year courses at some colleges have four semesters which total to 16 months and not necessarily two years. Some similar courses in other colleges have co-op or internship included in the year as a third semester, but there was no mention of any such thing in this course. So I believe the there will be two terms or semesters in this course totaling 8 months and therefore the PGWP issued will be of the same duration as well. Hope it helps.

I got admission to 2843 program, and it's noted in LOA that starting date is January and ending date is a year after. But expected date of course completion is August (8 months).

@Sweetalker
Please check you PM, I've sent you a message.

The chances or rejection, or something else going wrong will always be there.. no matter what you do..

Having said that, odds become a lil less as they have already given you a permit to study in their country and they have no problems towards extension of studies so shudnt be a problem..

Ohk.. Thus might be a bad news for me as I was specifically looking for a one year course..
:( :(

I will still go ahead and call up the college to confirm the PGWP duration..
they would have seen such cases for sure..
