Hi,

My mom has Multiple entry visit visa for Canada and she has an Indian passport. I would like to know if there is any specified or recommended time gap after which she can visit us in Canada again.

She arrived here in Canada in Sep, 2018. If she leaves Canada in March, 2019, can she return for another visit for 6 months in April, 2019? Can the gap be just one month between her date of leaving and returning for the next visit? Also, once she visits again in April 2019, will she be allowed a stay of 6 months again or for a shorter duration since she re-visited too early?

Thanks!

There is no fixed rule but usual advice is to spend the same amount of time outside of Canada as previously spent in Canada before returning.

Unless she has a reason to leave in March why not just apply to extend stay.

There is of course no way to predict whether will get a 6 month stay with a new entry in April 2019.

Longer term maybe you should look at a super visa.

Thanks for the response @Bs65

So for my mom's entry this year in September, I don't see any stamp on her passport here in Canada. My question is how do we determine if there is no stamp or date written for the duration allowed to stay? Is this always the case or was this just one scenario where there is no stamp while entering Canada?

For extension of stay request, do they always extend the stay for 6 months or even lesser? What are the chances of rejection of extension or approving extension for less than 6 months given this is her first visit to Canada. (Earlier a couple of years ago, she visited Singapore thrice and never overstayed). We really need her to be here with us at least from June-Sep 2019. She has a flight ticket scheduled for Dec 4th but I am thinking to move it to Feb/March and book her next visit in April again.

We are here on work permit and our visa is currently valid only till May 2019. Our PR is in process and we will mostly get a WP extension if we don't get PR by then. Since we are only on work permit here till May 2019 currently, I believe I cannot apply Super visa for her, correct?

Thanks in advance!

If there is no stamp in her passport then she was allowed in for six months. Correct - you cannot apply for a super visa at this time.

If she stays for six months and then leaves, she should remain outside of Canada for six months before returning for another visit or there's a fair chance she will run into issues at the border for spending too much time in Canada. If you want her to remain after March 2019, then your best bet is to apply for an extension to her stay from within Canada and request another six months for her visit. Alternatively, she can leave as scheduled in early December and return for June to September.

Hi my mom she got super visa in 2016 on that time she stayed with us 2 years after that she came back for 6 months now i m confused lot of people are saying u don’t need to apply for extension because they changed rule for super visa they can stay with you for 2 years i m really worried about her she is here with me since last 5 months even she does not have any return date or stamp on her passport how can I figure out how long she can stay with out extension
