Hello all,
I am preparing the family class forms for my Danish husband. We are currently living in Denmark with our 9 month old son who is a Canadian citizen. My question is, we plan to move to Canada by June 2013, so if I submit the forms by July 2012 and they are approved swiftly (this is wishful thinking of course), when do we have to be in Canada? Is it one year after completion of the medical? We will have to tie up loose ends here and will need a few months for that after the forms are approved. I going to have my husband complete his medical as the last possible step before submitting all the paperwork.
From looking at the CIC website, it appears that it takes about 9 months for processing from the London office, but reading some of the posts on this site, it seems they are done a little faster.

Also, I am currently on a leave of absence (Maternity leave-parental leave) from my teaching position. So I have not had alot of income to show for the past year or two...however I am due to return to work in July 2013 and have a letter from my employer confirming this and my salary amount. Do I need the option C printout?
Any information is appreciated!
Thanks!

I cannot say much about the time line for London. Look for other threads on here or someone else will help you. But if you have documents and explain your income situation, its no problem to sponsor. There is no minimum income required but you have to explain how you want to support your family once in Canada. Important too is that you show strongly your intention the resettle in Canada. Explain details of your plan to resettle like where will you live ( maybe at a family members home immediately after landing to have a place from where you start activities to find your own place), possible work places you would apply for work to, etc.
Explain your intentions in detail and if you can do some things you can do from Denmark, like apply for Jobs in Canada ( send resumes, etc.)
The more you can show that you want to resettle the better. Of course nobody requires you to get into renting or buying a home or similar as you do not know your exact landing date. Hope others can add to this. Good luck.

If you haven't filed a tax return in the past few years, but you have worked in Canada prior to that, I'd go ahead and order the Option C. I'd also include a detailed explanation, similar to what you have done here, but expand on it. In your case, since you haven't been working, it would be wise to include the Option C from previous years just to satisfy the requirement...but it won't be an issue.

Yes, one-year from the medical....submit asap to avoid any potential delays which may cause problems for your plans to return in the summer of 2013.

Good luck!
