Although residing in the Middle East, I identified the desired flight and decided to book my tickets through a local travel agent in India at a rate better than any of these websites had quoted (INR 1,08,000 for 3 passengers). Kayak.com (not kayak.co.in) gave me the best rates compared to all others, but my travel agent managed to give me a better offer for the same route on the same date.
Since we are moving with the intention of settling in Canada and considering the initial struggle, I believe, it will not be feasible for the whole family to return to my home land within the first two-three years. You might be wanting to save every possible dollar till you are properly settled. I want to spent some time with the rest of my family as I will not possibly meeting them for next few years. So, I decided to fly out from Delhi. The advantage I had for flying from India is that for any airline I choose, the baggage allowance is twice as much as if I would have traveled from Middle East without paying a premium. 2 baggage of 23 kgs are allowed per passenger in additional to the cabin baggage. The Qatar Airways flight I booked operates using Boeing 787 Dreamliner which started flying in 2012. Even onward flight from Frankfurt in Air Canada, operates on a new fleet of Airbus and I learned from some of my friends about their excellent service.
My suggestion is - do consider many factors like the duration of flight, baggage allowance, airfare, fleet etc while choosing your flight. May you get the best possible deal. Good luck.
