Hi Ameer,

I too carried cash physically with me and declared it at the point of entry at Canada. No questions or verification done. But, on our return via London, we had to deal with the customs authorities in-transit as we were bringing back the same cash with us. They asked us to prove the source of funds and any receipts. Luckily, I was carrying original receipts from UAE Exchange. They say that if they search our bags and find more cash than we inform them or if they are not satisfied with the proofs, they will confiscate our cash and we can challenge it in London Court. So, better carry proofs.

Bonjour Canada

Welcome back Bonjour Canada.. !! and thanks for sharing very valuable info..!!
Yes you were really lucky that you carried UAE exchange receipts along with you.

Cheers...

Hi ryan niazi
your and mine cases seems more or less replica. I applied in May2010.got 1st AOR on 25th Oct 2010. I sent Documents to VOLondon on 2nd of January 2011 and received 2nd AOR on 8th of June , since then e-case is not responding. What i have understood at this forum it takes few weeks to get appear. Any way seniors like Quorax, Biju and many others should guide us.
I am in Fujairah ,anyway keep in touch, send me your phone number. Mine is 050-4335464.

Yes scanned copy of passport, emirates id and other required docs need to upload along with the online application request. I believe there will be no as such issues if your visa is from Ajman or any other emirates. As the application is processed by the CID department, which is interconnected with all emirates.

Also, if you are submitting your application with emirates id through online, you don't have to undergo the finger print scanning, as they already have all your information.

Hope the above information will be sufficient for you.
Thanks Mappleleaf!

Dear Biju,

Mine is also the same. IN PROCESS with RBVO Details. It changed to In process after 8 1/2 on 31st May 2011.
How long it will take for the date to appear in ECAS?

Does anybody know if the Canadian Consulate in Dubai do notarization of copies? If so, is this acceptable by the immigration officers in CIO / VO?

Do I also have to notarize passport copies? or just the employment contracts and certificates?
I have around 40 copies to be notarized, and if each paper costs AED 100 in al tawar, Dubai then that's a lot of money!!

What is the alternative??
Please help
Thanks in advance

I think it's only the employment contracts that are specifically asked to be notarised, the only others you need to are those which you do not want to send originals (university degrees, birth certificates)

Hi seniors,

I was told by someone that first/middle/last name has to be there for getting the visa approved, is it correct?

My problem is, i have first & last names, no middle name. So, should i approach the passport office to ammend my name, what is the procedure?

Regards,
rejis

Whoever informed that to u needs his head checked. There's no such requirement - and many of us do not have extended names - and wouldn't want to modify ours too.

Qorax

Hi Qorax,

Landed safely and hassle free end of last month. However, they did not do anything with our B4 and B4a forms and we were told to file our goods to follow at GTA Commercial Division at the Airport before the arrival of the goods (which when we were asked when the goods will arrive, we said after 6 months). I am now thinking, could we perhaps file our goods to follow when we come back for good say after 1 or 2 years, that way we are more precise with our list?

As always, appreciate your input on this,

Thanks,

DANGER:
I'd advice u to go to the a/port tomorrow morning & get the B4 stamped. There's a counter of customs outside the a/port.

The regulations are clear -- the B4 must be 'stamped' while entering Canada for the first-time -- else, it'd not be accepted later. We have 72 hrs since 'landing' to get it stamped [leverage given due to many forgetting to get the Jewellery pics] - but no more.

As u r already late, u might require to haggle a bit with the officer - stating the previous officer's quote. I personally feel that officer wasn't clear about the procedure - probably being a novice.

Qorax
Ps.: There r many cases reported on these forums about similar mishaps - and then a full payment while the goods entered.

Same here...The waiting period mentioned is 16 months now. We had submitted our full documents in Aug, 10 so i think we need to wait till Dec for an update. As Biju mentioned earlier, this might be the minimum period of waiting... Let us wish best of luck each other :)
