Most CHCs r overburdened with heavy influx of apps, as well as for adhering for GCMS. If u do not get the 2nd AOR by 3 months, ie. Jan2011, send London an email - somewhere around early Feb2011.

What is AOR?
An AOR officially acknowledges the Canadian government's receipt of an application for PR.

AOR stands for "Acknowledgment of Receipt." It is an official document issued by the CIC that confirms an application for permanent residence has been lodged with them. Typically, the AOR letter contains important information that the applicant will require during the application process for permanent residency.

Significance
The AOR is the first official document issued by the Canadian government in response to an application for permanent residence. Having an AOR gives the applicant no particular rights of work, residence or any other special privileges in Canada. It is simply an official acknowledgment that a person's application to immigrate to Canada has been received, and that the application will be processed - if it is eligible to be processed. However, the AOR “letter” nonetheless contains important information, including any required medical documentation and applicant interviews. The AOR also includes a receipt of the fees paid to the Canadian government, the file number that will be used throughout the application process, and an indication of the expected length of time it will take for the application to be processed.

Warning
An AOR is not confirmation that the individual's application is “being processed”. Rather, it is only confirmation that the application has “been received” and will be processed if it is eligible to be processed. If it is not eligible to be processed, fees paid will be refunded to the applicant.

Time Frame
CIO &/or VOs would generally issue an AOR within four (4) weeks of receipt of the application, or the 2nd stage documents. However, given the circumstances, processing of the AOR can be delayed. Currently (Dec 2010) CIO is taking about 8-12 weeks to issue the AORs. While, the CHCs are also taking a similar timeframe to about 16 weeks. Information on the particular applicant's expected processing time will be included in their AOR.
