HI mustafa
I have the same story exactly and I am in KSA however London office replied to me 2 days ago that my file is waiting to be reviewed by immigration officer we will be in contact when the review is over.My medicals were recieved on May 10 2013 so also soon to expire but they did nit extend or say anything about background check which I hope it is over now.
opinions are really appreciated

If your medicals have not been extended, you will be asked to do medicals again, once they are close to issuing your visa.

Hi hopeforfuture,

they mentioned in thier e mail that my case may take more time, that is why they extend my medical test,
below thier responce,

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your message. Your file has been transferred to our office in London, United Kingdom, and is currently undergoing routine background checks. We are unable to advise when these checks will be completed. We note that the medical results are to expire on 6 May 2014 and it is highly unlikely that your file can be finalized within the current medical validity. We have requested the medical section to reassess the medical files and advise if the medical results can be extended.

then they send me e mail for the extention of my medical test for one more year,

We landed November 23, 2013.
Open a bank account immediately, try RBC.
Apply credit card and build a credit history.
Apply for a car load after 3 months in current work.
We didn't bring any ATM.

95CAD per month is really cheap. Can you share more details via pm please? I am planning to buy a used car and the insurance rates are sky-high everywhere. Thanks

I second that.. I have not been able to find this kind of rate for a new immigrant anywhere.

Did you submit no claim certificates from your country?

Yes, what you see is right. 95 CAD$ per month I am paying for the registration and insurance per month.
For the Car, I am paying 378 CAD$ per month.

The car rate is fine, maybe a few dollars overpriced.

Can you share the details of your insurance company (or individual who sold it to you).. What is the deductible on this policy? Why are you paying registration every month? Also do you have any other type of insurance from the same provider.

Please do share all that you can, this information can help many new immigrants.

hi guys, just finished our medicals today...and just sent our bank draft for RPRF, updated IMM5406 Forms, and updated copy of passport to LVO through DHL....

just want to clarify two things here....

1. the name and signature of the principal applicant should be written at the back side.....although the bank draft shall be taken from the bank account of my wife......
2. for those receiving the same request from LVO....did u sent your documents also to the following address? becoz this is the address of the LVO officer who sent me an e-mail......

I've been informed by a friend that 'goods to follow' must reach Canada within one year of landing. Could someone confirm if this is true ? What if it gets delayed ?

You should contact CBSA for confirmation if you are in this situation, as there are a lot of people here who heard information from others and as it travels through the grape wine, the actual information becomes a bit distorted.

Honestly I have not come across any document that says goods need to be imported within 1 year (does not mean it is not true). From what I know, if you sell any item you imported tax free before 1 year, then you have to pay taxes on it: http://cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5114-eng.html

Would suggest contacting CBSA for this query.
