I wish I could join you but my plan is in July /Aug after kids school are over
And also still waiting for PPR

Ideally June - July is the best time to travel but worst in terms of ticket costs.
Medicals expiring in April 2014 and hope that they send PPR soon.

Wish all the members a Happy and Prosperous 2014 not only in getting PPR but safe landing as well as successful life thereafter.

Hi All,

Just got the Visa stamped on my passport.

There is a doubt troubling me, its kinda stupid you would say, but need your opinion.

I have heard lot about the quality of life & facilities in canada as compared to dubai but the idea of leaving my decent job here & moving to a new place without a job is giving me sleepless nights.

Is it normal to feel insecure at this stage? What if one doesn't get a decent job there?

Looking forward to your replies

same situation for others too......

When u go to Canada, assume you will not get job till 6 month to 1 year.....u need to be financially strong for that period.

Work in Dubai for 2 or 3 years from now and then u can plan to move finally to Canada....

Hi coolguy,

Thanx for the reply.

The situation would still be the same. Either i struggle (be without job) today or after 2 - 3 years.

as coolguy wrote, better to save sufficient funds for 06-12 month jobless period and then move to canada, while you are in DXB

If u r financially strong, then u can move now also.......

Choice is yours buddy.....

Intially u can go alone for 3 to 6 months and then call family (if possible for u)

There are no right or wrong answers. Everything depends on what you want from life. I have friends who landed and never went back, one who stayed for two months and then moved back to India, and another who has never looked back and set up his own business there and another whose family stayed back while he lived here for five years alone and then went back to Canada. It's a tough choice. Congratulations and good wishes on your move. All the best.

Hi Proby

It depends on you entirely. I landed here in Aug 2013 and have picked up a job completely different from my profession after 3 months and 100s of job applications. That said the work life balance is pretty good and there are no late working hours unless you want to work late.People are nice and friendlly too. I would agree with coolguy and others - come prepared with savings so you don't struggle for basics like food and housing. I have settled down in Burlington,ON and would be happy to help with other questions in the settling down process whenever you decide to make the move or if you are planning to Land now and move later

Hope this helps - All the best
