Hi all,
In my passport only 4 blank pages are left, i have to travel at least 4 to 5 official trips to neighboring countries before landing to Canada.

So i think minimum 2 pages will be used for stamping the exit and entry... so i just want to know after getting the Canadian VISA can i renew the passport ? Any problem for that?

It was a 100 gram gold bar, though I had the receipt with me but no one asked.

While going from Dubai, its not an issue........Its only at Canada Immigration what they will ask ?

let me clear

taking Gold out of Dubai is a prob NOW. i mean in quantity , not 80 gm or the ornaments ur wearing. i am taling about whn u move out. there is always a chance that the customs has asked bills and from where u got this much gold. so always declare it and if u have bills and docs show tht. very few cases thy have not asked but the chance is 80 : 20 whn comes to more quantity. in AUH 95 :5 chance thy will ask u .

buddy its always good to renew the PP b4 u send for visa stamp (if canada visa not stamped) but whn u send make sure u also enclose ur old PP

hi guys. . thank you for ur comments about taking gold out of Dubai. .

But I noticed some conflicting infos. . as Biju mentioned that we need to have the "bills" with us. . . I just want to ask for the benefit of those who are currently preparing to do their landing (including me) . .. As from the previous posts, we need to prepare list of golds and pictures which we will use in the place where we chose to land, but how about going out of Dubai. . . do we need to prepare document? please guide us if there are any restrictions. . .

Appreciate if those who made their landing will share their views and insights about taking gold out of Dubai. . .

regarding gold ..... if u have more always its safe to have the bills to show in dxb customs if they ask.

now for Canada POE , u need to prepare the list with pictures , weight and approx value - but they wont ask u bills - they will just stamp all the papers and give u back

Hi Humsafar

If you don't mind me asking was it a large quantity ?
I'm talking about all the gold we have - my wife was born and brought up in Dubai and I have lived a major part of my life here so we have a sizable amount of gold that we will be carrying in hand
I spoke to the Dubai customs helpline who confirmed that there is no restriction but advised that I go to the airport and meet a customs officer to avoid hassles before we travel
I'll give you all an update in the next 2-3 days

still have good memories from our last group meet at Mirdif City Center. BTW where is Captain sab, no news from him any where.

Humsafar the gold we are going to carry is much more than that and unfortunately we don't have bills for everything. We have a large family in Dubai and over the years have received some gold as gifts.
I'm going to carry my original goods to follow gold list to the dubai customs with our old passports that go back a couple of years and see if a customs officer can either stamp the list or give me a piece of paper that will help us in case we get stopped

As I said I'll keep all of you posted

I received an e-mail from LVO to submit Schedule A / Background declaration form and update PCC. This is the first time i received a document request in 2 years.

Can any body tell me when i can expect MR? They give me 30 days to submit

Dear Friend,
I was in the same boat.I recieved my Schedule A / Background declaration form and update PCC+ fees for resident permit on 21/11/2012 and I recieved my medical request + again PCC on 25.3.2013.

received and assessed. We currently await your spouses medical results
and will be in contact as soon as the result has been updated in the
system. It appears your file will be ready to be finalized once your
spouses medical result has been assessed.

I can confirm what biju said. Today i passed through scanning at airport and i was carrying 2 rongs for myand wife the weight was less than 10 grams. They stopped me ans asked the receipts.

With this, we cannot bring the gold out of Dubai if we cannot show receipt? Or we can still bring gold out of Dubai and tell them honestly that we don not have receipt. . .since in reality we received gold gifts (in our case eg. 2 grams of coin/ 5 grams of bracelet) from our friends and relatives.

My questions is. . .can we still bring gold without receipt and tell them that there is no receipt (since they are gifts) to totally e cannot bring those golds out of Dubai?
