Hi All
I would like to give you a heads up on our situation. If you recall I had mentioned earlier that we received our pps back with the visa stamped but with an issue - my wife's visa had the plastic seal missing. While everyone said it was fine the lawyers through whom we had applied just send a mail to check with CHC London if this was fine.
Their answer was very clear that we would not be allowed to Land since the plastic seal was missing
We have now successfully send her PP back and got this rectified - we got the pp back yesterday and looking forward to doing our landing in June this year
I have a couple of questions and look forward to feedback from people who have already gone through the landing process
1. We are in the process of creating the goods accompanied and goods to follow list - Do we need to photograph expensive handbags as well ? - Had picked up a designer one for my wife on our 10th anniv
2. Our lawyer has recommended hiring a settlement services agency which is going to charge us US$ 1000 to help us open bank account, SIN, library card etc. - the main thing is they will provide us with an address to get the PR card which they will deliver to us back in Dubai since we can't stay in Toronto for more than 1 month. I need your advice on whether this makes sense or is there any other cheaper option - We don't have any relatives in Canada only a few friends
3. In case we don't use the above services any good areas recommended for a family of four which is close to areas to open a bank a/c, SIN, Library card, DL, Mall and most importantly Indian restaurants ( my wife is a pure veg) and also not very expensive since we will be staying there for a month something in the 50 -75 dollar range with cooking, washing and free wifi
4. Also can we carry some Indian spices with us since we are unclear about what food can we carry with us
5. We have valid US visas and would like to visit the US side of Niagara Falls while we are there but our lawyer has recommended against this as he mentioned recently the Canada border authorities are giving PRs hard time to come back into the country without a PR card - this is contrary to what I have been reading on the forum
6. I will be carrying a laptop , camera and ipad when we visit which I have been using for more than a year now - does this still need to go on our goods accompanied list ?
7. Would like to spend the time seeing the beautiful landscapes and wildlife of Canada - any recommendations would help
8. This visit is only for landing and we would like to see some government body to get guidance on courses/degrees etc. that will help us in our job search when we eventually move there
And we would love to meet any of the forum members when we are there - 25th June to 20th July
Thanx
