Dual US-Canadian citizen travelling to US with Canadian Passport

hi,

I’m a Canadian-US dual citizen travelling to the States in two weeks for a week long vacation. I have a valid Canadian passport, but my US passport is expired.

I was planning to fly from a Canadian airport to the US (the Canadian airport has US customs)...

Is the lack of US passport going to cause problems and can customs refuse to allow me to proceed?

I’m wondering if I should instead just book a bus to the States so I can cross the border and take a plane from the States to my destination.
