Hi,

This is regarding dual-intent.

I'm going to do an outland PR application for my wife in India. Her police verification & medical is already complete, but at last check her PCC file is delayed so I still haven't submitted the immigration application yet. However, she wants to apply for a TRV to Canada so she can at least visit me while the immigration process is going on, and I've got the Invitation letter and all documents to supplement her application.

Based on my own research from reading this forum, looks like she has to present a compelling and clear case of her intentions to the visa officer and that she definitely plans to return to India before the visa expires. She has quit her job but still has a lot of ties to family in her country.

I'm looking to get some guidance from those that have applied and successfully got a visa for Canada, well before the immigration process was complete. Any thoughts and recommendations?

I applied without succes :D

They couldn't find anything "wrong" with the application (they didn't say I didn't have enough funds, I did, or enough ties, or anything). On the rejection letter they wrote "Please await the processing of your permanent residence under Family Class Sponsorship".

So there is no "sure" way. If they don't want it, they don't have to lol

Sorry, I can only tell you to prove funds (as much as you can), ties (job, letter from employer, from school, properties), a strong reason for visiting. I also added some recent proof of the relationship (he visited me many times since we applied for sponsorship, so I added the plane tickets and receipts from our vacations), and copies of the emails and mails we received from CIC. I arranged the envelope with the basic forms for TRV and I've put the extra evidence last (I didn't want to force the officer to get frustrated about the papers, if he wanted to check what I added ok, if not, he could easily find the basic forms and papers they request for any visitor visa)

Hope you have more luck than me, either with TRV or the PR processing

My wife was also rejected for TRV application early last year. But that was even before our marriage. She was still studying and didn't have a job as yet . We had sufficient funds, 2 week plane ticket, Hotel Reservations etc. I even sent invitation letter as a family friend. But the entire application was rejected on the grounds that she doesn't have enough ties to return back to Europe after visiting me. :)

All the best if u are still planning to go ahead :)
