Dual Citizenship: My mom has a dual citizenship, can I get one too?

I'm in love with an american boy, and it's funny because my mother applied for a us citizenship, and she has a dual citizenship since I was little. I am 22 now, And I was wondering could I get mine too considering she is a Canadian and American? Would it be hard to get? How long are processing times? I'm very new to this and I've been reading a lot but if someone could put it in words for me that isn't the government websites, that would be great

You'll have to tell us more about how and when your mother got her Canadian citizenship.

Did she obtain Canadian citizenship by being born in Canada? If not, how? If she obtain her Canadian citizenship after being born was she a Canadian citizen at the time you were born?

Shes born in Canada, Her dad lives in Florida, and they first lived in Canada then lived in California when they were young, and moved back to Canada to live. She obtained her US citizenship when I was about 11. She applied for her citizenship and was approved since her dad is an american citizen.

Are you asking about US citizenship or Canadian citizenship? It's not very clear. If you are asking about US citizenship then you should be posting your question to a US immigration forum.

Since she wasn't a U.S. citizen when you were born, and it sounds like neither of you currently reside in the US, it would be highly unlikely you will get it easily

It seems like the OP is Canadian (probably born in Canada) and wants to obtain American citizenship to be with this American boy. Based on what the OP wrote and the mother's history, I don't think the OP can even get American citizenship through her mother since the mother didn't have American citizenship at time of OP's birth.

The only chance OP has of getting American citizenship is if she married the American boy, obtain a green card through marriage and apply for American citizenship, 5 years after getting card.

Both of my brothers were able to do this when they were under 18. My dad has his Dual because his mom was born in the states (she lives in Canada now and has for a long time). My one bro was going to university in NY so he got his Dual, and my other younger brother did the same just because he could. I was over 18 and was told that I couldnt anymore - but i have seen in other forums that it is still possible.

If your mother is a U.S. citizen, you are too IF your mother, before your birth, lived in the U.S. for 5 years, at least 2 of which was after she was 14.
