Dual Canadian citizen with expired Canadian passport needs Canadian visit visa

Hi. I am a dual Canadian citizen living in the country of my second nationality which does not recognize dual citizenship. I took the my second citizenship through marriage but managed to keep my Canadian citienship.

Now I need to visit my parents in Canada but my Canadian passport expired 6 years back. I don't want to renew it at the local Canadian embassy here.
Can I instead apply for a Canadian visit visa on my other nationality passport from any Canadian embassy? Is it okay for a dual Canadian national to enter Canada on other nationality passport with a visit visa?
(I intend to renew my Canadian passport once I am in Canada).

Unless your second nationality passport is visa exempted, you need your Canadian passport. You can renew your Canadian passport elsewhere if you don't want to do it in your second nationality country.

If I applied for passport renewal at a Canadian embassy or consulate in a third country, being a non-resident Canadian, I'm concerned that while processing my application, they might contact the Canadian embassy in the country of my second citizenship, to check up on my information.

Being a dual national, I am guessing that the Canadian embassy here in my country of residence might inform local authorities. (I can't afford to relinquish either nationalities). So I don't know if it is safe to renew my passport in a third country.

Alternatively, I suggest you get a US visa (using your other nationality passport) to USA and then enter Canada by non-commercial vehicle, such as private car and bicycle, using your Canadian citizenship card/birth certificate and the expired Canadian passport. Get a valid Canadian passport as soon as you arrive Canada.
