Dual Bachelors Degree (4 years)

Hi All,

I'm looking for some advise - I'm about filling out my Express Entry profile and was wondering how to enter my educational qualifications there. I've completed a 5 year integrated law program - being awarded the 'Bachelor of Academic Law' at the end of the 3rd year (6th sem) and the 'Bachelor of Law' at the end of the 5th year (10th sem).

My question is how do i enter this? EE does not have the option of "Two or more degrees...". If I enter it as one single degree, I may only get the points for a bachelors degree hence reducing my chance on an ITA. Below is my ECA from WES. Your thoughts would be of great help!!

Credential Authentication: Official transcripts were sent directly by the institution
Country: India
Credential: Bachelor of Academic Laws/Bachelor of Laws
Year: 2009
Awarded by: -------- University
Status: Recognized Institution
Major/Specialization: Law
Canadian Equivalency: Dual bachelor's degree (four years)

Hi, I am stuck in the same situation. I have a 5 year law degree which was assessed by WES as dual bachelor's degree (four years). Could you please advise? If I select my qualification as a single Bachelor's degree I end up with just 407 points. Therefore, choice is between showing it as two bachelors degrees separately or showing it as as a professional degree (447 points). I could attach the certificate of practice to strengthen my case.
I would really appreciate a quick response.
Thanks

Hi, so after a lot of discussion with some lawyers migrating to Canada who were stuck in a similar situation. I believe a person in a similar situation has the following options:
Option 1: Apply for ECA report from IQAS. They give professional degree status to the 5 year course. However, you will not get the report before 12 weeks from the date of delivery of documents.

Option 2: Go with the WES ECA report which states "Dual bachelors degree (four years)". In the EE profile, make two separate entries. Select the same period of education for both. That way you will get points for two bachelors (128 points). If you look at the examples of "two or more bachelors....", "Dual bachelors degrees (four years)" is covered.

To be safe, I went for both options. I made my EE profile as per option 2 and also applied for IQAS report. Unfortunately, IQAS takes a very long time to give the report. So, if my IQAS report comes before I get the ITA, I will update my profile to professional degree. If I get the ITA before the IQAS report then I will just go ahead with the WES one. I may get the ITA on the coming Wednesday as I have managed to get my score up to 465 (because of 3 years work exp.) and it is less likely that IQAS report will come before that.

How did this turn out for you?

Hi! This may be a long shot since your post is in 2018, but may I ask if IRCC accepted your application as 2 separate Bachelor's degree, even if you got a WES assessment of Dual bachelor's degree (4 years)? I am in the same situation, and I don't know how to proceed :( Thank you!!
