Disclaimer: I don’t have a personal experience of importing the vehicle to Canada. Please check all the information yourself. If you learn something new please share on this forum.
I believe that it is possible. However make sure that you indicate your vehicle (don’t forget to mention VIN) in the “Goods to follow list”. The list has to be presented at the border and you should retain 1 copy with customs stamp for future import. BTW all other belongings which you intend to bring later should be in the list.
To avoid paying import duties you probably need to be able to prove that you had owned the vehicle for at least 6 month before landing
If your car is younger than 15 years old please read this: http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html
Don’t forget that you might need to make some expensive modifications to your car (e.g. tether strap for a child car seat, Daytime Running Lights) etc.
Don’t forget that you need to notify US customs at least 72 hours from export of your vehicle (i.e. during your trip when you are ready to import it officially into Canada)
