Driver license exchange UsA to Ontario

Hi All,

we are moving to Ontario on PR in 2 weeks from USA. I have 1 year and 2 months of driving experience in UsA and still hold a valid Indian Driving license (10 years of experience). my question is, when I go for exchanging my USA DL , will they give me a G2, until I qualify for the Road test for giving the G test?

I want a G2 because we are moving our car from the states to Ontario.

( This is in case I do not provide my Indian driving history so that I can waive the G exam wait time).

Get a certified copy from the US DMV of your driving records. You can then exchange your US DL with the driving record for an Ontario G license. You will only have to take the eye test. No other test will be required.

For example, if you had a licence for 21 months in your home province, state or country, you can do the G2 road test after 3 months in Ontario. After you pass the G2 road test, you get a full licence.

S/he would have to prove the Indian experience, whether Ontario accepts it, is another matter.

Hi,

If you surrender your US licence then you will get a 5-year G2 licence without any road tests.

I did mine last week and had received G2 licence. I had a valid licence with only 6 months driving experience.

I am in the same situation as you. I have my US New York Driver's License for 1 year and 5 months, however, I have more than 5 years driving experience with my valid Myanmar (Burma) license. I am wondering if they take into consideration of US + Myanmar (or India) driving experience when they process the G (full) license, in your case?

India and Myanmar history won't be considered for full G license. Also, you need 2 years of driving history to get full G license.

I recently moved to Toronto from US, i have a valid 5 year old US License and a 11 year old india license. I know i can exchange the US license for full G license easily but i also want to make sure india driving experience is considered to get a better car insurance rate. Anyone been in same situation as mine? Will i be able to ask credits for India driving experience if i get my DL extract from indian RTO. Thanks
