Hi Everyone,
I am applying for Study permit for this Summer 2013 Term... Concordia University - M.Eng in Electrical and Computer Eng, Full time student.
And while filling online application form, I came across these questions and i do not know what to answer....

1. Do you intend to work off-campus?

2. Is Work an essential component of your studies? (Concordia Univ have 12 to 16 week Industrial Exp Program - "http://co-op.concordia.ca/co-opprograms/industrialexperienceprogram/")

So, What should i answer, that will not hinder my chances of getting Visa....

Thanks...

1. If you have any intention working outside the campus or outside your school. If you're planning or want to work off campus while you are studying in Canada, you should be a full-time student at an eligible post-secondary educational institution participating in the Off-Campus Work Permit Program.

2. It means if the course you took or taking has a CO-OP program. Because for some courses, a work experience is part of the curriculum. If the course you will take has a CO-OP program, you have to indicate it in your application. You will be needing a working visa for that. Once you indicate that it has a CO-OP, they will automatically include the working visa without additional fee.

Most often than not, only three years course or 6 semesters has CO-OP or more I guess. But for a two year course or 4 semesters, I haven't seen any programs that has a CO-OP in it. If what you're applying is under CO-OP, then you will be needing a work permit, so you have to indicate it in your application.

How can I find whether it's a CO-OP Program or not, As far as I know it's an optional industrial Training... Industrial Exp Training... Is it CO-OP ?

It should be in the program or it should be listed in the outline course of the program. For the other schools, like seneca, centennial, sheridan, george brown, and humber, it will indicate if the program or subject you choose has CO-OP. Click the link for sample and click the tab that says "Courses"

http://www.sheridancollege.ca/Programs%20and%20Courses/Full-Time%20Programs/Programs%20A-Z%20Index/Computer%20Engineering%20Technician%20-%20Technology.aspx

I am not familiar with the outline program of Concordia University. The best thing to do is call your school or email them, or read the program your school is offering or you can make a new thread about the CO-OP program of Concordia University. I can see some thread here of Concordia University, maybe you can ask them.

Good Luck!

Don't apply for it now.As it is optional ,You can get it very easily after arriving( as You will have to request uni to give you a letter for co-op work permit).

Good decision. Any intention to work off-campus in Canada may jeopardize your student visa application.

Note: I chose to be in the co-op program after I came to Canada (not that I knew before :D)
