Hi there,
I am a canadian citizen and I want to sponsor my fiancee after we get married in January 2020. Here are some points that will make it easier to analyze our case:
- He does not live in Canada
- He does have a valid visitor visa
- We are in a relationship since February 2018 (and we have all evidence required)
- He applied twice for a study visa back in 2018 but got denied since immigration did not believe he was able to pay for his stay and that the officer believed he "would not leave the country after the program"
- We are planning to get married in January 2020 when he will enter the country as a visitor
- After we get married IN CANADA I want to sponsor him on a INLAND application WITH a Open Work Permit (so we can move together while we wait for the application)
- We do have savings over 20K C$
1 - I read a lot about the Inland application but I still have some concerns, since it looked too "simple" and "easy" to be true. Valid temporary visa (visitor in our case), apply for PR with Open Work Permit and wait. Are we missing any important step right here?
2 - I believe telling the truth to an immigration officer is always the right thing to do, as our relationship is genuine and we have nothing to hide, but could immigration deny him to enter the country to get married and force a marriage outside Canada?
3 - Should we lawyer up to this case or is this application easy enough to do it by ourselves?
Thanks!
