This is Canada. Here are A LOT part-time jobs for students: waiters, kitchen, fast food restaurants, cashiers at grocery stores, shop assistants, adminstrative jobs at small companies, tellers on-call at the banks...

do you need SIN for those or work permit?

After 6 months of studying (and good grades) you can apply for a work permit to work OFF campus. You always need a work permit for off campus work. When you have your work permit you can work no more than 20 hrs per week.

You can work on campus without a work permit. I also believe that on campus you can work full time. Finding on campus jobs, is another story though.

Also, this only applies if you are in a college/university that is listed on CIC where students are allowed to work on/off campus and later can receive a PGWP.

I applied for study permit yesterday i.e. 17th July and for Centennial college.

You can't study without a permit and you can't work without a permit. Once you have your study permit (which you need to apply for from your country) you can go to Canada, activate your study permit. You can apply to work ON campus without a workpermit. After 6 months of studying you an apply for an OCWP (Off Campus Work Permit). Once you have that you can work 20 hrs per week off campus.

Now, you went to Canada without a study permit in your hand already? I hope you get it.

Is it easy to get a part time job in Toronto (if u know well plz tell the situation Scarborough)?
how should we apply for it?
within how many days on average can we find a job after arrival to canada?
whats the minimum wage?
which kind of jobs r available easily?
what are cash jobs? ( cant we get min wage in cash jobs?)
and how r these jobs scheduled?
most probably wat will be the centennial clg timings?

and example.
if u have classes frm 9am to 4pm, is it like u can go to work when ever u want? like to day u dint attend class so u work for the whole day tomorrow u r free frm 12PM so u then go and work for how many hours u want and on sunday u work for the whole day like that, how is this scheduled?
or its like when the employer accepts u he ill say particular time like u should come at 5Pm and work till 8pm or u should come at 5pm and u can work as long as u wish.

how does it work? I know I m confusing u but plz try to answer. better if anyone frm Canada answer it.

legally we should not work off campus for 6 months but if we r in need and if we want to work wat happens? is it so problematic to work with out work permit.
and one student frm Canada told me that he completed 6 months but dint apply for work permit as if he apply he should pay taxes, how far is this true?

I am from Vancouver and recently 5 students are deported back for working illegally( read in newspaper) So its not a good choice for you to work illegally for the time untill you get your OCWP. And you are asking this question publically on the internet. I heard CIC checks these kinds of forum on regular basis. 8) 8) 8)

Hi,

1. It is definitely not easy to find part time work in Toronto. There are total 2,50,000 international students in Canada already.
2. Referral through seniors, friends or go to shops and ask for work. You can apply for safe cash jobs like cleaning, bakery etc. factory jobs are not safe.
3. Depends upon you and your network you make here.
4. Minimum wage in cash jobs ranges from around 5-15$, depending upon job you do. Cash job in restaurants starts from 5$, cleaning 8-10$. bakery 10-12$ & Factory 10-15$.
5. Factory jobs are ever available. Also, jobs are more in summer and less in winters as many industries close in winter.
6. Jobs are scheduled according to your employers requirement. Only in the case of cleaning you get to work in flexible hours.
7. Cant answer that

Yes! You will get off-campus and post graduate both work permits even if you don't have a job.
