Hello all,

I would like to clarify some dilemmas about FSW. Hopefully somebody might be able to do that for me.

I am working currency in Canada under Temporary work visa, I got it with LMO.
On the FSW criteria for 2014 I can see that you need to have 1 year experience in an eligible profession or arranged employment which I have.
I got here with LMO and got permanent offer. Now do I still need to have 1 year experience in those 50 professions?
I have 5 years experience in different NOC B jobs, but they are not part of 50 eligible professions. Can I still apply under FSW and can I claim points for experience for example if I have 3 years NOC 2147.

I will really appreciate any input, as I need to make decision as to apply with FSW now or wait till I get 1 year work experience inside Canada and apply under CEC.
I already have good IELTS and education verification by WES so I have almost all the documents required to apply under FSW.

Thanks in advance

1. If your employer writes a letter stating that they will employ you permanently, once you receive PR, then you should be applying under FSW2 Arranged employment, which doesn't require experience in one the FSW1 occupation.

read the following :
A) Basic eligibility
We will only process your FSW application if you have:

at least one year of continuous and paid (full-time or an equal amount in part-time) work experience
in a single occupation,
within the last 10 years,
at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 edition of the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC)
AND

You have this work experience in one of the eligible occupations,
OR

You have a valid offer of arranged employment,
OR

You are an international student who is enrolled in a PhD program in Canada (or who graduated from a Canadian PhD program within the past 12 months) and meet these criteria.

you're eligible to apply.
good luck !!!

Thanks PMM and Mr.Hope

I am so happy to hear that I am eligible to apply.

One last question, for the point of work experience, does the work experience needs to be on the 50 eligible professions or I can get points even for example if I have 3 years experience in NOC 2147 which is not in the 50 eligible professions? This is very important as to calculate if I will have the required 67 points/

thanks again

I am afraid to tell you that, work experience from any one of the 50 occupations is a must !!!

If NOC 2147 does not fall into lower skills category ,you can claim points for that. Note that it must not be on 50 eligible occupations.

I'm pretty sure if you have LMO and going for arranged employment category you dont need work experience from that 50 occupations. although you need 1 year experience from category 0, A and B NOC category.

at least one year of continuous and paid (full-time or an equal amount in part-time) work experience
in a single occupation,
within the last 10 years,
at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 edition of the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC)

You have a valid offer of arranged employment,

Correct me if I'm wrong....

You are right, I can apply under FSW2.
The only dilemma how is whether I can get points for NOC 2147. This is not on the 50 eligible professions but is NOC B. This was last year on the eligible professions.
