Spouse Sponsorship. I am the husband (sponsor) living in EAST Canada...Currently my wife just got her immigrant VISA and she is planning to come here next month.
But, I might move to Calgary soon, so she might have to meet me there in Calgary. Here's the question: when she at port of entry (let's say at Vancouver Airport), IO will ask her about where she is going to...obviously on her air ticket will show that she is going to Calgary instead of going to east Canada. So, the City mentioned in her Application/COPR will be different from Calgary...

Is she gonna be questioned by IO about why she is going to Calgary?? Are they gonna refuse her at airport?? If anyone who has the same exprience, please please share with me...Because I am really worried about the issue!! :'(

Thank you very much...

No need to worry. ;) She can land any international airport of Canada. She has been issued COPR for Canada and NOT for a particular province.

Congratulations! and your wife is welcome to Canada. :)

It doesn't matter. you can land anywhere in Canada ( complete landing formalities) and go somewhere else afterwards. Some people land in a city, go back to their home country and move later on. Or stay with family first, and then move...
The only province that is a bit different is Quebec. If you intend to settle in Quebec there is an added step (Certificat de Selection du Quebec) that you have to complete... otherwise it doesn't matter.

The IO will ask her about her updated address to send the PR card. So if it's different than the address you currently have (in the east), and you already have the new address for Calgary, make sure your wife has it. Apart from that, it doesn't matter..

I stated on my application that I was going to vancouver. Then I moved to Canada ( I'm visa-exempt) before the process was over, and ended up in Victoria instead... I did the landing procedures last saturday in Victoria, and it was no problem. The only thing that the IO will ask your wife is where the PR card should be sent.

Good luck - and congrats on getting the PR! all will go well for your wife, the landing procedures at the airport are not tricky, no need to worry!

Thank you for the fast reply..really appreciate...

but the thing is, yes, i understand that she can land at any airport... But, is the IO gonna question her that why she is going to Calgary? obviously, the City mentioned in her Application/COPR is different from her actual destination... Is that gonna be any problem for her?? I am kinda worried...

Do you know any other couples went through the same situation?
Thanks a lot...

If the IO asks why she is going to Calgary, the answer is simple: because her husband is there! :-) it's OK to move during the application process, and the IO is not going to be worried about it. If you applied when you were living in the east, then the address is in the application. If you move to Calgary before your wife arrives, it's not a problem. The only purpose of the question from the IO is to make sure that she gets her PR card sent to her at the right address ( it takes about 2 months). So make sure she has the address where the card should be sent to (if you don't have your final address in Calgary, ask friends/family etc if they can receive the card for you, that's also no problem), and she will be fine! The IO at my landing was very nice, joking, welcoming me to Canada, asking me how I liked it so far etc... don't worry about your wife - she will be OK.
