Don't want to sit out work while TRV is being processed

Good day all,

Seeking clarity!

My Canadian temporary resident visa will expire 13 August 2013 and my work permit is valid until November2013. I am a long haul truck driver who travels across the border into America and back to Canada on a daily basis. I know I must submit my passport for a visa extension but is it possible to be issued temporary travel documents while my visa is being processed? I do not want to sit out work while my visa is being processed.

Hi,

You can apply for your TRV using Online application. In this case you dont have to send your passport initially but when your visa is ready CPP-O will ask you to send the passport to them. My friend just did this couple of weeks ago. His application was all processed (within 15-20 dyas) and then he got email to submit the original passport so they can stamp it with TRV. He sent the passport to Ottawa and received it back in 1 week with the TRV. Doing this way you will just skip one week of your work.
