I have come on this forum before to mention the importance of a professional well written resume. As a human resources professional I can't stress this enough, especially for foreign workers. I have seen 1000's of foreign resumes over the years and I must admit most of them get passed over due to lack of information, poor formatting or lacking in information up front. One of the biggest things about applying for jobs in North America is to leave off any personal information (age, pictures etc.) This can be seen as discrimination, so leave this information off.
I met a company called HRinmotion.com a few years ago at a conference and have used them ever since. They are a job preparation company specializing in preparation for job seekers and business. I have heard nothing but positive feedback in regards to their resume services, online interview/resume courses etc. There are many more companies out there, but from personal experience these guys are excellent.
So foreign workers, get your resume written professionally, it can make all the difference and get you shortlisted.
Best of luck!
