Hi guys, i will keep this clear and simple

i'm a british born citizen
i met a canadian girl online
we just spent the last two weeks together, staying at her place
now we are apart as i'm back in the UK and it's dreadful being apart
were both in our late 20's.

for me to stay longer i would need to work in canada but i'm not sure how or what i would need to do
i don't have any skills but am currently employed in the UK.
Canada is definitely the place for me and it's what i need, i cant do UK life anymore.

What are your best suggestions?

Thank you

Look into the IEC/Working Holiday Visa program that would allow you to temporarily (for a couple of years) live and work in Canada. All spots for this year are already taken and there are limited places available. However your best bet would be to apply for the 2018 program once it opens and hope you are selected. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/iec/

Otherwise your options are pretty limited and you'l most likely either have to marry your girlfriend so that she can sponsor you for PR or have tens of thousands of dollars available to come to Canada as a student to continue your studies.

You are not alone, many of us are going through or have been through a similar situation.

Marriage and a spousal sponsorship is the most sure fire way to be together in Canada permanently, but I guess you don't want to get married too soon into a relationship which may raise some red flags with immigration. Building up a history of visits (she could also go see you in the UK) doesn't do any harm and from personal experience it's never easy being apart (leaving after the first visit together is definitely the hardest!) but things like Skype and smartphones makes things a bit better and actually planning future visits becomes quite exciting and can really give you something to look forward to!

The working visa sounds a good option if you could get that, you could stay here 12 months or more no problem working and living together and building up a cast iron common law case with joint bills etc

Really there is no overnight solution, but if you are meant to be together you will get through it!

I met my girlfriend in Canada while on holiday and went down the study visa route. Got my diploma after 2 years and I am waiting for my PGWP now. I tried to find a job over here, but without success and looking back on it, getting a study visa was the best idea as employers will not take the risk a lot of times on a foreign worker when they are out of the country.
