Missing signature is an incomplete application and is guaranteed to be returned. Not a surprise in any way.
The timline sucks but that's obviously because of COVID-19.
Hey! Do you know if these applicants had temporary file numbers by any chance? Sorry for bombarding with all the questions
Pretty sure they didn't, because the government won't even start processing an application until its complete (signatures and all). I actually used an immigration consultant, and im glad i did because my wife and i ended up having to send a few forms back and forth between Canada and Colombia before he would submit the application, as some signatures were missing, bar codes were mismatching etc. Anyway once it was all submitted in late November of last year, it all went relatively smoothly until covid hit of course

Also - jeez, how absolutely dismantling. It's nice to see they are working, but you'd think they could bend a *bit* given that it took 6 months to handle the application. I guess I understand, though. A signature is pretty critical. Still, though...
