Hi guys I am pretty sure any of you know about this.
I have been looking but I had not success trying to find out what kind of fees apply to people waiting for PR.

when do we qualify for domestics fees?
do we have to wait to get AIP or just with OWP type 27 is enough?

I have been reading on few uni websites and some of them says that if we are dependans of a canadian citizen we do qualify for domestic fees.
When do we become dependants? beginning of application?after AIP?after landing?

some webstes says that we need AIP or if we are dependans, so confusing

Thanks in advance

Where did you see if are a dependant you are eligible for domestic fees - Can you cite them please? As far as I know unless you have a PR or a Canadian citizenship you are considered an international student no matter what your application status us.

For sure we don't need to be PR, With AIP we qualify for domestic, what I am not sure is about being dependant of a canadian citizen

I cannot provide the exact link, though from my experience with UWO, being married to a Canadian citizen makes you eligible for domestic tuition as a dependent.

you should talk to international student advisor or student record etc at your school.
If you are married to Canadian and your PR application is processing, maybe you don't need to pay tuition for International student.

every school might have different policy so you really need to talk to your school advisor.

If you are in Ontario you do qualify for domestic fees. I can't say for other provinces. Also, you do need a study permit even though you have a Case 27 OWP.

In other post in this forum someone was declined to get a study permit while waiting for PR as they want proof that you will leave afyer you finish to study so i thinks there might be a way without study permit no??

You can take short courses of less than 6 months duration without a study permit. Anything longer than that and you MUST have a study permit.

Hi. I talked to international adviser and they told me that if my application for PR is approved thats the time the domestic fee will apply. You are considered as international student if the decision is not yet done.

But what does THIS really mean:

International Fee Rate Exemption

The following categories of international students may be exempt from the regular fee rate:

A permanent resident within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act:
a person who has been granted permanent resident status in Canada who has not had this status revoked
a person who has met "all the preliminary requirements" for permanent residency status who submits a confirmation letter from Citizenship and Immigration Canada to the Enrolment Services and Student Fees Office in POD64 by the deadlines as listed below.

For an Inland applicant, AIP means that the Sponsor has been approved and the relationship with the sponsor has been approved. The applicant still has to provide medical (if they hadn't previously) and police checks. CIC must also complete their background check(s). After all of that, they are issued a letter telling them that the processing is complete. Isn't that when they have truly "met the preliminary requirements", since the `P' in AIP is for Principle, rather than Preliminary? Is that the confirmation letter from CIC that needs to be sent to the Enrollment Services and Student Fees Office mentioned above?

For an Outland applicant, once they receive their CoPR document, they really have met "all the preliminary requirements" for permanent resident status.

Ponga that comes from Ryerson uni website right? as far I understand AIP will be enough to get domestic fees.
A guy also coment in a post that just with the marriage certificate was able to get domestic fees!

I know each UNI has diferent requierements for that, I guess I will have to find out with the student advisor

Yes, but as canuck_in_uk pointed out you'll need a Study Permit if your course exceeds 6 months.
