Hello everybody,

I am an international graduate from Toronto. I have completed a 3 years diploma, got my Post Graduation Work Permit and then I moved to Calgary. Due to economic conditions, I am having hard time finding a job in my field of study. Mostly, the offers I get is for Commission based jobs. I just would like to know if I work as a Financial Planner, NOC (1114) which is a commission based job, will the work experience be counted towards CEC? does commission based jobs are considered as self-employment? any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks

Hey,

Can you please update on this. Were you able to apply for the CEC? If yes, whats the outcome?

Yes, you`ll be considered as self-employed (you`ll get T4A, not T4) so it won`t qualify. I worked as a Financial adviser (commission based) and I was reporting my income as a business income and this experience did not count toward my CEC application. Sorry to say that.

Thanks for the reply. I'm in the same situation. I thought it would qualify only to be told that even though the code is acceptable, the employment status is not. So what did you do?

Hey all, i'm in the same boat. Anybody make any progress as far as alternative way to qualify? Please and thanks
