Hi,

I'm submitting my PR application and I'm not sure how I should address the following question: Does "the primary applicant" have a job offer in Canada?

What should my answer be given that:
  • I'm currently working in Toronto since late July 2017 on a temporary work permit (LIMA exempt)
  • I'm working for the same international company I worked for in the US prior to moving here for one year
  • I have a letter of employment from the Canadian firm stating that my employment will continue permanently if I get the PR, subject to my performance and regular business needs
I'm confused because I read the following on CIC website:

I would say you do have a job offer, although you might want the employers letter to be slightly more specific about length of employment after receiving your PR. Just an opinion.

@mats307 You have an LMIA exempt visa. Wait till July 2018 to claim 50 points for job offer.

You cannot claim job offer points now. You need to work in Canada for 1 year. Foreign experience in the same company will not be counted.

Employer in your work permit is the Canadian arm of your company (let's say XYZ Canada Ltd.). You need to complete 1 year experience with XYZ Canada.

Thank you @ajithj ; problem is I have a provincial nomination which expires before in a few months. I conclude that my US experience with the same firm does not count for this purpose, so its better to answer that question with a NO.
