I am wondering if Vienna is going to return my Marriage Certificates, Police Reports, stuff like that.

Does anybody know?

hi there,

For those who have not yet applied, I truly hope you don't give original documents unless asked for them (ie: marriage cert should only be a copy).

For the OP, we did get 90% of our supporting evidence returned (ie: photographs, emails, etc) but some thing were not returned (ie: copy of sponsor's T1 from Revenue Canada). I haven't gone through everything yet (and probably never will) as far as what was returned and not. it also would not surprise me if different VO's followed different practices in this regard.

Best wishes to you.

Thanks!

They did specifically request the original marriage certificate though!

I hope they return it so my wife can finally change her name ;-)

I was wondering about this, too (we sent our original marriage cert). Do you have to request that they send it all back to you?

You can actually order a copy of your marriage certificate from the registrars office that can be used in place of the original if you don't get it back. I think it's around $75.

For my visa office they didn't return the original translations of the birth certificate or the marriage certificate. Everything else we sent was return to us (minus the forms obviously). They gave us back the copies though that were written in Spanish, just not the original translations. Every visa office is different, and every single visa officer for that matter. It's probably best not to expect them back and order new ones. If you get the ones u sent back, bonus.

am sure it say on the form dont send stuff your going to need they might not return it, i got original copies of the important documents and sent in that.

Do you do like, an access to information and request the paper files? Is that how you get them sent back?

I'm curious, which country requires you to send original of marriage certificate? I thought this was always a photocopy only.

Also I don't think you get police certificates back, since they were basically only for PR purposes anyways. CIC would expect you to order new police certs for any other reason you would need them.

They are taking their sweet time anyway. COPR was sent out on April 10th and it's still not here

The items which were being returned to us were waiting for us when my wife picked up her passport.

Philippines requires an original. A lot of the documents they request need to be originals.

I'm visa exempt so that won't be happening :(

We got absolutely nothing back.

Original question here is from Vienna office so I wonder what country-specific forms they are following...
