Does the Visa Officer check where GIC funds come from?

My main sponsors would be my parents for the flight and tuition. However, my aunt & uncle (candian residents) are willing to fund for my GIC and accommodation. The plan is to write a letter of explanation about their commitment to help me with the accommodation. But would it be wise to disclose that they'll also be funding my GIC. Im asking because a huge amount of money will appear in my own bank statement (from my aunt / uncle) and I'll use that to fund my GIC.

In line with this, is my own bank statement essential for a study permit? Or are bank statements from just my main sponsors (parents) enough? Note that I'm going to apply through SDS.

Thank you all in advance x

GIC has to be funded either from your account or join account. It cant be funded by anyone else as far as I know.

Oh what I'm actually asking is will the visa officer try to trace back where the GIC funds came from? Like for example, would they look for the bank statements where I got it from (let's say my relatives sent the funds to my bank account under my name). Or would they simply ignore it since the GIC is already mine?

1. If you have GIC certificate, that's it. No more questions will be asked asked there.
2. Why are you worried about telling the truth?!
3. In your Statement of Explanation, you can mention that your uncle will be accommodating you/supporting you financially. You can add a signed letter from your uncle, with a copy of his passport and permit and bank statements. (Search youtube for samples)
4. In your Statement of Explanation, you can mention that your father will be supporting you financially. You can add a signed letter from your father, with a copy of his passport bank statements. (Search youtube for samples)
5. In your Statement of Explanation, MENTION CLEARLY that you will be returning to your home country; AND your future career / business plans in your home country AND how the newly earned education/work experience will help you in that plan. Never say that you are going to stay with uncle/aunt forever ;)
6. If you have been working, then you may show your bank account statements. Otherwise it doesn't make sense. But don't be afraid to tell the VO that you are financially supported by your parents and uncle, (with adequate proof that they capable to do so.)

Thank you for the detailed response! Much appreciated. And it's not that I'm worried about telling the truth its just in a facebook page I'm in, I've vented about this problem of mine and a lot of them told me that having an extended family in Canada to support me might weaken my defence. They said, since they're extended family, the visa officer might think I have plans of overstaying.

In line with this, should I also include information about my grandfather? One of the future business plans I'll be providing in my letter of explanation is I'll be utilising one of his properties as a place for the business I wan t to create. He won't sponsor me or anything, but considering I'm also living with my grandparents along with my parents, would it suffice if I included him to solidify better hometies?

Your worries are not unwarranted. I have come across many posts where SP have been rejected for having a relative/family in Canada. There is a specific clause which they mention will not return back home based on your ties in Canada.

Honestly, it is like walking on thin ice. You do want to tell the truth off course but the way VO decides is very subjective and does not really follow any quantitative measurements to come to that conclusion. Sorry, but your best bet is to apply & hope that the VO subjective decisions is in your favor.
