Does anybody already happen to know if the upcoming announcement re changes in the temporary foreign worker program has any influence on post graduate work permits?

I don't know if people on post graduate work permits are on a kind of temporary foreign worker program or not?

Thought I might throw the question out there in case anybody actually knows... I'm supposed to be handing in coursework soon so no time to be wading through immigration websites (no time to be on here actually :-X)

Thanks :)

Yes, any workers who are not holding Canadian citizenship are considered TFWs. Based on the article, I think we will definitely know what changes are going to be implemented (100% sure) early next week.

All aboard the hype train !

For employers who have been unable to recruit Canadian citizens or permanent residents for job openings, the TFWP makes it possible to hire workers from abroad. Employers might also find a qualified foreign worker already in Canada, such as a foreign worker who is about to complete a job contract with another employer or a foreign national holding an open work permit that allows the employee to work for any employer in Canada.

Ooh, no, reading through that article again, I think it might be that the committee release the report to Johnny early next week, not necessarily us commoners!

Still good news. McCallum still needs a green light from the House of Commons (HoC) before he can go ahead to announce and implement any changes. Let's say the HoC will release the report next week, then we can expect to have an official announcement from IRCC at the end of the week or the week after.

At least, we have a clear timeline for our train. Hopefully, it won't derail and destroy the CEC town this time.
