If the sponsor is sending in a copy of his/hers passport do they still need to send in a copy of their birth certificate? I know the applicant needs both but just checking about sponsor.

Thanks

i don't believe so. it is specified in the sponsor's checklist. only send what is requested on the checklist.

look at the documents checklist to determine what you need to send to CIC. under "supporting documents - sponsor", it lists, among other things, a passport OR a birth certificate. you only need one. some people choose to send both, but generally it's best to follow the instructions and supply only what they ask for.

Yes, i provided my birth certificate and passport details along with my spouses as well when sponsoring them. Do include it in your application

as already mentioned, it is not required to send both. it is required to send one OR the other.

Ok, thanks!

If you are sending a birth certificate, does that need to be a long form? or is the small birth certificate okay?

If you have a long form certificate then why not send a copy of it? It gives more info doesn't it...
