Does the employer ask for any insurance bond that I will remain work after 6 month with the same employer

Bonds for legal costs seem legal in Canada. I'm wondering why they would even do it because you can't that easily leave in a closed WP and join others. If the employer has sponsored you an Open WP and paid for it why not it makes perfect business sense for them to do it.
