Hey. I live in Lebanon. I'm planning to continue my university studies in Canada. Montreal to be specific. I already got my university acceptance and my CAQ. I also applied for the study permit/visa. I submitted all the required documents and took the interview in which I thought I did a great job. But, I got worried when my interviewer returned my passport at the end of the interview and told me that they will give me a decision within 12 working days... Is returning my passport considered a bad sign? I freaked out because I had friends who applied last year, and the embassy kept their passports until the decision was made...
Does the embassy keep my passport?

May be he is not satisfied with your documents, if you are not on scholarship they normally go and check you financial status plus some time education docs as well. So, if you have nothing wrong don't worry. happened to my firend in Abu Dhabi they asked him for 4 weeks but at end of second week he got his visa, they verified his bank docs and educaitonal docs.
My bank statements and everything are all OK. I have enough money to cover all 4 years. So I'm not worried, they can verify it all. As for the educational docs, I also gave them everything including the official transcripts of my current University as well as the original acceptance letter from the university in Canada... So I just hope it goes well, I only got worried because I thought I did great in the interview, so I was shocked when she handed me my passport back at the end.
