Does reapplying mean you are starting over ?

I applied for a visitor visa for my newborn son in Nov 2021 and since there was no movement we reapplied in May, the first application has not been withdrawn. Since the reapplication the processing time has gone up from 50 days to 146 days, does that mean I have to start from scratch in terms of waiting for a reply? This whole thing is so confusing.

Yes, reapplying means starting the processing / wait time from scratch.

Thank you so much for replying. I have a couple of questions;

1. The old application has not been withdrawn so far, so even with that I still have to wait from scratch?

2. I waited for close to 8 months, isn't that taken into consideration ?

Thank you so much for your time in answering my question.

You have two applications in progress. They are two separate applications.

The first application is already in progress and it's certainly possible you'll hear back on that soon.

The second application is a brand new application and will be processed from scratch.

If you didn’t, applying thru GCKey and the new Portal would have been more effective.
