Does Passport needs to be valid for 6 months for Student Visa Applicants

My classes at UOIT are starting from Jan 2011.
My passport is expiring April 2016
Do I need to renew my Passport, my passport renewal might take up to 45 days (Pakistani Passport renewal in KSA)
And Student visa application at VFS might take up to 45 days as well.

I BELIEVE YOUR CLASSES ARE STARTING FROM JAN 2016.
IT'S BETTER IF YOUR RENEW YOUR PASSPORT IN SOME TATKAL CATEGORY AND APPLY FOR VISA
