Hi there everyone. I (principal applicant) and my husband (Canadian Citizen Sponsor) submitted the app for Inland Spousal Sponsorship back in February. We had been preparing documents and whatnot for at least a year and tried to be as thorough as possible. One thing we read early on was that the sponsor cannot be on any form of social assistance besides disability, and we did not apply for or receive any at all.

My husband has T1D and has a lot of expenses for it: namely the insulin, infusion sets, and test strips. We've been paying for it all out of pocket throughout. Recently when he went to get more supplies the pharmacist told him that the sponsorship probably only precludes receiving stuff like food stamps. Now we're pretty used to getting advise from people who know nothing about the process trying to pretend it's easier than it is, but if it's possible that he can get Trillium (we're in Ontario) without it adversely impacting our application, we'd of course like to do that.

Is anyone familiar with how Ontario's Trillium or other similar programs are considered, and if they impact the ability to sponsor?
