I would say, whichever is later of the two.

If you started working earlier and got your WP later (illegal?), then start counting from the day you got your WP.

If you got your WP earlier, but started working later, start counting from the day you started working.

day you started the job (based on your job reference letter)
Keep in mind CEC counts only job experience date not work permit initial date

Right, but you do need to prove you were not a student if you gained experience before receiving your PGWP, as experience gained as a student is invalid under CEC. My advise would be to start counting your experience from the day you started working under a valid PGWP.

Did you start working right after graduating? My case was similar since I started work right out of school and it took about a month or 2 to get my PGWP so I started working on my off campus work permit. I just waited a couple more months to apply for PR just to be on the safe side but maybe you could write a letter explaining your situation if you are in a hurry to apply for PR or you could call up CIC to confirm. They're aware many people go through this and it's normal (and legal) to start post grad work on an off campus work permit (It's valid for 3 months after grad anyway).

Thank a lot guys!!!

yea I started my job during my final exams (before grad) and got my WP after two months, initailly joined as contract and with a month or so got permanent position.

Am not in a rush to apply (have 2yr more of validity) so want to apply from the day I got my WP.

My job is on QA testing, and one of the other person on groups posted this link(2283 Information systems testing technicians)... and my job Roles and Responsibilities are matching with this. Can any one tell me is this the correct link that I come under to apply PR

Thanks
