Hi there, I am filling out the for for sponsoring my wife to Canada, now she has to do the Imigration forms. Does she have to apply for Permanent Resident status even she's still in her country? or she has to wait until she is actually in Canada then apply for it?

There reason that I came up with this question is because I saw this in the information guild

. PHOTOS
Supply five (5) recent photos for each member of your family and yourself. Follow the instructions in
your guide (see Photos in section on completing the Application for Permanent Residence in
Canada) and in Appendix B, Photo Specifications.

Depends what you mean by the word "sponsor". Is your wife planning to come temporarily on a visitor visa and you are sending her an invitation letter or is she coming permanently and you are sponsoring her under the spouse category?

If you are sponsoring her under the spouse category to come and live in Canada with you, you can find all the forms you need here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp#immigrate (this is for applications where the sponsored spouse lives outside Canada - which you mentioned in your post) - you need to fill out the forms in Part 1 and she needs to fill out the ones in Part 2.

You can also read this thread http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/spousal-sponsorship-t46995.0.html which covers the basics of this process.

I would give you the information for the visitor visa situation, but the CIC website displays an internal error on that page at the moment. One thing you should know, is that usually visitor visas are refused for people who have strong connections to Canada (eg a spouse) because the immigration does not believe those people will go back to their countries after the visa runs out.

what I meant was, I am trying to sponsor my wife who's currently in my country. And she will stay here as a permanent resident in Canada, and I am doing the sposoring application, and she is doing the immigration application.

My main question is .. Does my wife have to do the applicaion for permant resident now? .. or she has to wait until she came to Canada, then apply for it?

When you sponsor, you are actually applying a permanent residency status of the person you are sponsoring, regardless whether he/she is in Canada at the the time of application.

one person said when i sponsor my wife, I am actually apply for her permanent residency, and the other one said my wife can apply for permanent resident status easily, .. .. I am totally confused.. can someone else please explain this ...

There are two parts to the spousal sponsorship application: (1) sponsor section; (2) applicant section.

BOTH sections must be completed and submitted together as one application. If you only submit the sponsor section, the application will be returned as incomplete.

Does this answer your question?

Yes I do know that we have to complete 2 parts, one for sponsorship, and the other one is for immigration, .. my question is, Does my wife have to complete the application for permanent resident? .. is it totally separate from the immigration application or when she applies for immigration, it actually includes the permanent resident application?

The application you are preparing for is, in fact, for your wife's permanent residency. The procedure consists of you sponsoring her to obtain the residency. To immigrate = to become the resident of another country. The immigration application does not include the permanent resident application, but IS the permanent resident application.

If you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you can sponsor your spouse, conjugal or common-law partner, dependent child (including adopted child) or other eligible relative to become a permanent resident under the Family Class (FC).

I don't know how to make it clearer than this.

Maybe you should read more on the matter. Start with the guides and the forms, maybe they will clarify your issues.
