I am filling out forms to sponsor my wife to Canada. I am a Canadian citizen. She is India citizen. We got married in India. Do I put "married" on my application as sponer for marital status? Do I need to somehow inform Canadian government that I got married in India before sending in my application as sponser? If so, to whom? Thank you :)

Your martial status does not change no matter where the marriage took place. You are considered married in Canada even though you got married in India.

My marital status before I was married in India was "divorced" . so I am confused,

Is my status now "married" because I was married in India? Or "divorced", as you say it does not Chang regardless of where the marriage took place?

Are you currently married or currently divorced. You can't be both. It either one or the other.

You were divorced but now you are re-married. So your current status is married.
