Hi,

I am living in Vancouver and applied for citizenship in October 2013. Current status shows "In Process". However, I am moving to Toronto with my family in July this year. Will this affect the processing time? Will it have any significant negative impacts on my file apart from just transferring the file from Vancouver to Toronto?

Please advise.

I had almost the same question, you can read from here:

But I'm moving to BC, I hope this is not a bad decision for me ;)

Hi,

In my opinion. The sooner you move during the process, the lesser consequences you'll have.
If you move before Sydney transfers your file to Vancouver, then Vancouver has to transfer it to Toronto, that could trigger some delays and uncertainty (according to what I've read in several forums). However, if you move before there's any transfer, as long as they have the information, your file will be transmitted directly to Toronto, as if you've always lived there (from an application perspective).

This is just my opinion, I'm not an insider but it seems logical to me. Even if logic and CIC are not often used in the same sentence :-X

Liked your last sentence!!! I will surely inform CIC about my move so that transfer can be initiated by them. I am not sure whether my file is in Sydney or Vancouver as the status just shows "In Process".

Thanks. Will have to inform CIC as my file is still "In Process".

P.S: What made you move to BC? Its beautiful.. no doubt, but I am done with it!
I'm moving because of better job market, Here in Montreal I worked all the time but the salary is lower, more tax, but yes rent is lower in montreal but it's freezing in winter. What make you move to ON? ;D

Weather is not my concern! Southern Ontario boasts the maximum job opportunities in Canada. Not sure about your profession, but I am an IT Consultant and I have explored better opportunities in Toronto compared to Vancouver. As a matter of fact, many IT companies are moving from here, not sure why! Some of them are also coming here; like Amazon, Facebook, MSFT, etc have started/expanded here but only to a specific niche area. What kind of work you do? I recommend doing your homework before making a move. Good luck.
