For relationship documentation purposes, I'm planning on including cards my husband and I have given each other, plus cards we received from relatives for our wedding, birthdays, Christmas, etc. Does anyone know if Immigration will return these items? I really don't want them to end up in a shredder somewhere.

Some people have posted that things like that were returned; others have posted that they weren't. You could send photocopies (colour, if you want to make them look better) instead of the originals, just to be safe.

9 times out of ten they wont. If you dont wanna risk not getting it back, dont send the origional

Depends on the local VISA office. You can for sure send copies instead of originals.

Nothing wrong with photocopies. They may or may not return the originals. Sometimes they do.

we filed out of kingston Jamaica and all originals we submitted was returned (except the printouts of digital pictures which amounted to about 20 pages of colour printed 8.5x11).... i've heard that london returns originals too...

hope that helps some...

I would definitely opt to send photocopies- as they are just as valuable to CIC. Nothing of ours was returned, and it sounds like thats the norm.

Wow, it looks like I'd better not send originals, then. Thanks, everyone, for your replies :)

we sent copies too and when my husband was called for the interview he took the originals with him.
