Guys I have 26000 CAD (which is enough for 1st year of my education living and travel expense) under my name in fix term deposit account (fixed for 10 years).. I can take out the money any time i want to but the confusion that I am facing is that the account statement that i get shows the amount in leisure balance but not in available balance. I want to know does this statement fulfills the requirement of proof of funds or should i move the money to a current account? Please advice me

Thanking in anticipation.

According to me, It will not be an issue. You can go ahead with fixed deposit. You can get a certificate from bank where is it fixed to confirm about it.

well there's no confirmation required. Fixed Deposits are better than regular statements, as the name says, it's FIXED for certain amount of time. VO gets a confidence that these funds are original rather than borrowed by someone for declaring purposes. Coz, if you have borrowed by someone, you will definitely won't be able to fix them. I myself have declared about $10k as fixed deposit in bank, $19k National Saving Certificates and about $16k Liquid funds.

No issues man.. Same here..its a positive sign as others said.. go on.. provide the copy of that Leisure to CHC attested by the
bank manager(although attestation not that important)...

Yes Absolutely Go AHEAD....I have also confirmed this with one of my friend who works in CHC islamabad,,,,,Fixed deposits are absolutley fine.

@ug83, If your friend is in Canadian Embassy as you say, that y don't you update us on the reasons of not processing applications in timely manner.. That will definitely relieve pressure on most of us.

@ug83.. yaa man update us man.. y so delay man..

sorry guys for the late reply......He worked in immigration section. I actually asked him the same fixed deposit question and he said CHC accepts fixed deposit certificates ...All they require is assurance that student / Sponsor will support his studies and trip to Canada .........

I asked him about the delay but he doesn't really know about student visa delays......however he mentioned that there is definitely a backlog in their system.Immigration and student visa operate separately.

best regards
Usman

hello all... I will apply for my visa this October 2012, but my FDR will be 3 months matured at that time. My parents will be my sponsors. I've already paid my 50% tuition fees. We have fixed assets (2 lands), car and government benefits which is more than my entire tuition fees and living expence. will it be a problem?
