Hello,

So our ultimate goal is to get my GF Permanent Residence and our situation is as follows. My girlfriend from China (lives in S.Korea) got approved for a 6 month multiple-entry TRV to come visit me and my family in Canada. She is still a student studying in Korea where we met and lived together. When she comes to Canada next week she will be staying just over 2 weeks with me, and we stated on our application that she was coming to visit me for the sole purpose of meeting my parents. Secondly, we are planning to get engaged when she comes to visit me in Canada during that time (we did not state this on the TRV application). After 2 weeks she is returning to Korea for her studies. We are also planning to have our wedding in Canada in Sept. of 2016 after she graduates from her masters program which is roughly 8 months after her current TRV is set to expire.
So my question is,
1. is it possible to extend her TRV while she is in Korea, before it expires, and ask for a longer duration so that she can visit Canada again and we can go along with our plans of having a wedding ceremony in September? I have only found examples online of extending one's TRV while they are "IN" canada, to prolong their visit. We also plan to submit our permanent resident application shortly after our wedding ceremony.
2. If it is possible to extend the TRV while not in Canada, what do we state on the application? And do we need to provide any documents like plane tickets showing that she would be returning to Korea again if we apply for an extension. (but she wont be returning because after the wedding we will be doing PR application)
3.Do we tell the truth and say we got engaged during her first visit to Canada and are planning a wedding in Sept. of 2016?
4.Do we tell them we are planning to submit permanent resident application shortly after our wedding?
5.Do we show evidence of the wedding being planned, will this help her TRV to be extended? Or is that a bad idea because she would be getting married on a visitor visa? we currently have a wedding hall booked already for the date of the wedding ceremony.

Thank you.

TRVs can't be extended. When it expires she will have to apply again from scratch.

She can do it from her country of residence, as SK is a Visa exempt country most probably she will have to send her documentation abroad. Look for the correct offices that handle applications from SK.

When you reapply it would be a good idea to be honest.

TRVs are not meant to be a bridge for getting into the country and then staying using a PR application as an excuse. If a TRV is given then it will be expected that she will return to her country of residence after the wedding takes place.

Yes, this will help for the TRV as purpose of visit.

If TRV cannot be extended, is the CIC page that talks about extending stay something different, or does that only apply to people currently in Canada wishing to stay longer? www(dot)cic(dot)gc(dot)ca/english/visit/extend-stay(dot)asp

because she currently has a multiple entry visa that is good till November or December i believe. We cannot extend that visa before it expires to allow her to visit again?

This only applies to people in Canada wishing to stay longer.

No - you cannot extend the multiple entry visa she has now. As has been explained to you already, you must apply for a new one.
