I was just wondering if college ranking and reputation matters in study permit approval or rejection. What are your thoughts?

I think it matters...also the location matters....usually there are lots of applicants for Ontario colleges compared to other places....so for example if you apply for Newfoundland and Labrador colleges, I think you have a better chance of approval.

It DEFINITELY matters. 100%. Canada has become a breeding ground of cheap diplomas and degrees with the hope of attracting international students and their money. Therefore, reputable institutions in visa applications have a stronger guarantee of bonafide student and therefore higher success in a study permit. For example, you very rarely hear of student from University of Toronto or McGIll getting refused? Why? Because they are 99% likely to be genuine students

I was also thinking the same. An acceptance from University of Toronto or UBC will definitely look different than those students who just go there for PR. I know many friends who are at UofT or UBC and they dont care about PR and all, they are genuinely there for their studies.

If you are going to UofT you don't have time to mess around...or else you will fail

yeah, demography of your college could be other important aspect given that canadian government want people in their less explored areas to lure good human resource.
