They did not call my employer in any time during my CEC application.
as far as all your documentation and paper works are complete and not in any way jeopardised/modified, you do not have to worry about they calling your employer.

I am in agreement with Fae7. Just to add on, the Visa Officer reserves the right to do whatever is necessary to verify the information in your application. Therefore, although it may not happen often,be prepared for it to happen. It may even be part of a routine check.
