Yes they will but if your passport expired a while ago they may try to see if you really didn't renew it or you did have a new passport and you're just hiding it.

Thanks for the reply but What about the requirement of four year preceding the date of application.

If it has been a while since it expired then they will question the period between when it expired and the application date. This might be a good reason for RQ.

Yes, they do accept. They are interested in seeing your passport for the relevant period preceding your application (expired or not). Well, the fact you did not renew your passport may be good or bad based on the discretion of the CIC officer. Good in the sense that it means you haven't left Canada or bad in the sense that there is no proof to show that you haven't left Canada (or they may think you are hiding something and may trigger RQ). Always think of all the possibilities, but anyways make sure you don't lose your passport. Good Luck!!!

You need to send biographical pages of all passports held in past 4 years of relevant period regardless whether they are cancelled or expired etc.
For two pieces of ID, expired passport can't be used as an ID. Try drivers licence and health card.

If you did not renew passport after expiry and apply citizenship after that, then remember, write on the cover note letter that you did not renew your passport so that CIC does not have any doubts and it may prevent RQ.

Example: You landed in Canada on 1st Jan 2011 and apply for citizenship on 1st Jan 2014. You had only one passport that was held during this period which got expired in June 2013. So, send the copy of the biographical pages of that passport along with cover letter stating that you did not renew your passport after June 2013.

Brother,
Your answer makes sense. But the matter of fact is they do not rely only on passport for immigration stamps. Canada has very good border security agencies they held all the record for going out and coming in. But I made a mistake I should sent a letter to explain it to the citizenship officer why the four years period is not covered. do you thing my application may return back because of this reason or they may give me a chance for explanation.

If CIC return my file how long it takes to return?

Better to get new one and send copies of all pages of new and old. I someone whose application was recently returned. Apparently application was complete except they didn't have new passport copy.

You could try sending a case specific inquiry ASAP explaining the situation. Do not forget to include your Package's tracking # (if you have one) along with other details like your UC ID , DoB, country of birth , date application received, your Cit. fee receipt # etc.

I forgot to attach some docs with my application . I send them through email and case specific inquiry . It took a while however now those docs are part of my application .

Rehmanpk My wife applied for Citizenship early last year with an expired passport (she hasn't left Canada since 2011). Whilst we haven't completed the process we know the file has been looked at as we were asked to clarify a point on an unrelated issue. No question was raised about the expired passport and we never included any note on the subject. No RQ received and we have been told ours is a routine application. I don't think it is necessary to send a note explaining your expired passport but that's up to you.

Remember there are different officials who look at applications. Some could be nice others could be mean. Therefore, provide something to ensure there is no shadow of doubt. Remember,"The best way to win a match in which a referee is against you is to win by K.O."

Wrong. They don't stamp your passport when leaving Canada and the only way for them to find out when/if you travelled is to check the stamp of the country you visited. If you fly from Canada to Germany on Feb 8 CBSA won't stamp or even look at your passport but when entering Germany(usually the next day) there should be a stamp from German immigration for Feb 9.

uh, I think if you go to the US, they stamp your passport on the first trip and dont stamp it again for the next 6 months. If you have another document to prove your stay, (i.e Record of employment). I think you should be fine. Just leave a cover letter explaining your situation

CBSA has started exit records since June 2013. It is for USA for sure however for other countries, I don't know.
Someone recently got his CBSA records and there were exits mentioned for since June 2013. .

Even though they don't stamp on exit however, someway the entry is noted in their system.
