Hi Calgary settlers

Does anyone need two-bed room apartment in University drive, NW, Calgary, T2N4L1. It is a well furnished, walking distance from LRT station, train station, university of Calgary, Foothills hospital, Kids school, shopping malls etc. A great location.
I am not a landlord, if you are interested, I can transfer my lease to Calgary settlers. The rent is $1249 which includes water, internet and Cable TV. I will pay December' rent and moving out on Dec. 26. So, you can move there on 26th December or later.

I landed in Calgary in April, 2012 and settled everything, all of sudden, I need to move out. Therefore, I want to transfer this lease, I will ensure you that you could not get such a great apartment, good community at good location with such price.

If You need furniture, electronics goods 42'' Flat TV (Toshiba), microwave oven and so on), chair, dining table, beds, anything, that I bought brand new in April, 2012, I will give you at very nominal price. Yes medical Card starts from the day you land in Calgary. I landed in September 15 and i was covered from that same day. the card came through i think after a couple of days.

So that is the right place to land since you are expecting a child.

So that is the right place to land since you are expecting a child.

Keep in mind you must remain in Alberta for at least 6 months after landing or you will get a bill for the hospital services.

I agree. We had someone posting on this forum last year who ended up with a bill of around $42K from the BC government because they landed in Alberta, had their baby there and then left for another province about a month later.

I recheked with my wife and found the monthly rent is $1199, not $1245 as I mentioned in the original post.

If you are moving in January, then apartment with furnished furniture will be more than perfect. The foothills hospital is 5 min walking distance from the apartment.
Your medical insurance starts from the day you landed in Calgary, I had the similar situation last year.

It is legal as I already confirmed with landlord. No issues there.

Is subletting legal in your lease OP? It's usually not....
