What kind of additional document are you referring to? It depends on the document and content. Please give more details.

Of course!

Most of the time, it is a success. When Visa officer has doubts about something, then he requests additional documents to clear those doubts. If you provide adequate documents, your file will definitely go towards next step.

OP..... request for additional documents should be considered a good sign as the VO instead of rejecting is seeking additional supporting documents to evaluate you, in some cases, the additional documents are merely PCC or marriage certificate which usually means you are almost through....
